Spotlight Information: an Important Piece of the CTE "Big Picture"

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) are recognized as integral to the career and technical education program. CTSOs provide a unique program of career and leadership development, motivation and recognition for high school students enrolled in career and technical programs. CTSOs are not "clubs" to which only a few career and technical students belong. Rather, a CTSO is a powerful instructional tool that works best when integrated into the career and technical curriculum and classroom by a career and technical instructor who is committed to the development of the total person.

All career and technical educators recognize the importance of providing students with job and career-related training that complements the job-specific skills needed for entry into a particular field.

Anacortes High School participates in the DECA CTSO. Visit the Washington State or National Deca websites to learn more about the DECA program.

Spotlight Resources: free newspaper memberships are a great tool for researching potential careers and job hunting!

The New York Times offers an excellent article on "The Case for Working With Your Hands." You must become a member to read the article, but it is free and allows you to access the full range of the NY Times' resources.
